Hi, all! Mother’s Day is upon us! Instead of doing a gift guide I decided to do something different & post a twist on the classic mimosa! I used Prosecco instead of Champagne and used the Naked Juice Berry Blast instead of OJ. These are SO good! To make them a little more girly I added some pink food coloring to the sugar that I used on the rim. These are fun! If there is kids around just skip the Prosecco (obvi, but…more for you. 😉 ) so they still get the “fun” sugar and fancy strawberry. Hope you all have a lovely mother’s day & Happy Mother’s Day to all of you beautiful mothers!

I loveeeee summer dresses, especially when they are comfy & CHEAP! This baby is from the Forever21Contemporary Collection. I love the darker florals and think it is so pretty here in the desert. I wore this dress to church on Sunday with some black gladiator sandals, it can be super casual or dressed up a little with these cute block heels. I think this would be a great dress for a semi-formal wedding, bridal shower or a date! I can’t find this dress online but I have found a few others from Forever21 that are all pretty cheap and so cute!! I believe the first one is the same print as this dress!

I am sure a lot of my friends and family reading this are extremely confused! I grew up in a very rural area around farming so vegans are rare creatures where I come from but, I had to try it! So, many of my friends are vegan and actually really love it. In the video I talk about how my biggest fear was not getting enough protein but it actually wasn’t too hard. I am sure it wasn’t the healthiest day but it was my first day so I will (HOPEFULLY) get better at this! 😉

To watch my first day, click on the video below. 🙂

DAYS TWO & THREE (Chickenless Nuggets & Soyrizo

I am still going strong! It hasn’t been as hard as I thought it would be, I was so busy all day so I am getting it up a bit later than I intended but that’s ok. 🙂 Check out my video down below!

UPDATE: DAY FOUR & FIVE, I CHEATED + VEGAN COOKIE DOUGH

Hi guys!! I am almost done with my vegan vlog series! This was my first “slip” up and it really proved to me how great Whole Foods Stores really are!

The 411: Eyelash Extensions

I first started getting eyelash extensions a little over a year ago when they first started getting really big. I had heard about them a years ago but at the time they were extremely over priced, not like $20 or $30 dollars more than I pay now, NO. Seriously, people were charging around $300 or $350 for the initial set then charging $150 for fills. It was insane!! At that time I was still in high school and obviously could not afford that so I didn’t get them. ANYWAYS! I wanted to make a post about them because I know I had a lot questions and I still get a lot of questions about mine!

  1. How it Works – When you go to get your first set it typically take 1 to 2 and a half hours depending on how fast your girl or guy works and how many natural eyelashes you have. The first thing they will do when you lay down in tape down your bottom lashes. This is done so that the glue will not touch you other lashes and glue your eye shut, haha. Next they will start glueing on lashes. Usually these are one per natural lash. This is why it takes so long. If you get the volume technique it is usually 3 to 5 lashes per ONE natural lash. Personally I only get this technique if I’m going to a special event. While they are glueing the lashes on you just lay there with your eyes shut, some people even fall asleep. 😛 I added this close up to show how they really are on each lash, I am about a week out from my last appointment so some have shed.
  2. Price – Like I was saying, they were really expensive at first but now that they have gotten more popular they have gotten cheaper. In bigger cities it is usually going to be cheaper (depending on the city of course) than smaller towns because of supply and demand. I personally pay $80 for a full set and around $40 for a fill. I think this is a great and fair price for normal, non-volume lashes!
  3. When to Get Fills – I get my fills every two or two and a half weeks but they usually depend on how fast your lashes grow and if you pick at them! DON’T BE A PICKER.
  4. How to Care – I try not to get mine wet for at least 8 to 12 hours after getting them done, this helps the glue set. Also, I don’t hardcore wash my face or splash water on my face. I love using make up removing wipes and gently using a wet washcloth for my face wash. You can wear eye makeup but I feel like they don’t last as long, plus you’ll realize how much you won’t “need” it. They really do make you feel more put together, I feel this especially in the morning! Lastly, I’ve heard that using oil based products (like make up remover) makes them fall off!

1. Wash Up

Once you’re ready to stop being so productive, go into the bathroom and draw your bath. While the tub is filling up, gather up every single candle in your house and light them around your tub (this step is extremely extra and is not necessary but is highly recommended). If you have a headache try some essential oils in a diffuser instead of the girly candles! In my bath room I have a glass bowl full of Lush Bath Bombs which I choose from when I feel like I deserve it or have had a hard day. Epsom Salts are also so relaxing to add to a bath and aren’t as expensive as bath bombs! If I had a really hard day I shave my legs because who doesn’t like the feeling of freshly shaved legs in a freshly made bed?!

2. Meditation

There are so many amazing benefits to meditation. If you don’t already, try to set 15 to 20 minutes a day aside for meditation. It will help you become more in tune with your senses and more aware of your body. It also helps clear your mind and when I am finished I usually feel 10x more productive! It really is amazing! I will link some of my favorite youtube meditations below!

3. Your Favorite Show

Nothing can beat laying on the couch binge watching your favorite show on Netflix. If you are trying to unwind and this helps you, make sure you set aside time for it so you don’t feel guilty or go overboard. For example, I will let myself watch two episodes or three hours worth.

4. One Device Rule Or No Device Rule

Okay, I have been doing this for the last few nights and it makes me feel so much better. While watching Netflix I would constantly be checking my phone or on my laptop checking emails. Now, I will set everything on my desk and really relax and enjoy Netflix or turn on the tv and just focus on my laptop. Sometimes I’ll just turn everything off and read a book. I really helps to detach you from a device addiction.

5. Bedtime Yoga

Doing some nightly yoga can improve sleep and help you get to sleep faster. I will usually do my it in my bed just before falling asleep!

What helps you unwind?

Mom Jeans? Debatable…

I have never really been a huge fan of mom jeans until I went to Europe. I am now obsessed. They are so versatile and look good on basically anyone. My belt is actually a long choker! I love accessories that you can change up! I have linked some similar looks down below!

I hope everyone is having an amazing weekend!

After studying abroad I can easily say that it was one of the best things I did in college thus far. I not only learned a lot about the world but I also learned so much about myself. I struggled with anxiety and part of my reasoning for studying abroad was proving to myself that I wasn’t going to let it get in the way of living my life. It made me stronger and more welcoming to the unknown, a trait that will help me the rest of my life. Since studying abroad was so rewarding to me, I love sharing tips and tricks for people who want to go! Here are the top ten tips I wish I knew!

  1. Research and talk to people who have done the program you want to do – There is no better way to really know about your program than to talk to someone who already has done it. Our home school was able to hook us up with a few people who had already attended Bocconi in Milan. This helped us better understand what we were getting into. It’s also important to realize that they test a lot different than we do in the USA. For example, we only had one test the entire semester and that is what our grade was based on.
  2. Make sure you know the basics of the native language – We aren’t fluent in Italian but we can hold a conversation, ask directions and other basics. It is true that a lot of people speak English in Europe but I felt like it was more respectful to at least try to speak their language. 🙂 Plus, you’ll be able to meet more people and understand the culture better.
  3. Always be prepared for something to go wrong and be okay with it – If you get super stressed out if something out of your control (or even in your control) goes wrong, change. Of course there is a level of worry that helps you, like motivates you to pack faster or something along those lines. On the flip side of the coin, over stressing can cause your study abroad experience to be NOT FUN. The bad news is flights get delayed, sometimes you’ll lock your keys in the Airbnb with you luggage inside (true story), and sometimes the bus will be late. The good news is, IT WILL BE OKAY! Even if you get sick while you are abroad it is important to know that it will be okay. This will change you as a person if you get stressed over the little things. Go with the flow!
  4. Call your mom, trust me you’ll want to… – If you are anything like me or any other normal person, you will get homesick. You are in a completely new country to you with different norms and a different language and things are hard at first. In between having fun and studying, you will get homesick. Call your mom or your family, its okay to have a breakdown but remember where you are and remember to tell them how much fun you are having as well.
  5. Make sure you actually study – Honestly, this was the hardest part about studying abroad for me! You are having so much fun and traveling so much sometimes you lose track of your studies. Don’t do this! You are mainly there for school so let it come first.
  6. Remember you don’t have to see it all – While boarding our plane home I was so upset that I didn’t get to see Greece or Morocco. Even after seeing 15+ countries I felt this way and it was totally unreasonable. I realized that I have my entire life ahead of me to see those countries! You think those 5 to 6 months are forever but they aren’t and you won’t be able to see everything on your list (if your list is the same size as mine!) and that’s okay. Be grateful for all the amazing things you will see. 🙂
  7. Check the weather – Before you go, make a list of the places you want to see and check the weather there. Pack for the coolest place and the warmest place on your list. We took a weekend in Ireland and I did not dress warm enough at all! I obviously didn’t check the weather so learn from my mistake!
  8. Don’t over pack – When packing use space bags to fit more but remember it will still weigh the same! Beware of baggage fees. You might even want to be a minimalist and try the 3-33 challenge! Looking back I wish I had done this, if you don’t know what it is check it out on Youtube.
  9. Meet new people – You won’t truly experience a culture until you meet it’s people. We met people every where we went; airports, bus stops, Airbnb hosts, bars, tours and so many other random places. When going country to country so fast you will be able to tell the difference in norms!
  10. Save VS Splurge – Know when to save and when to splurge. Looking back I think I would have saved more on where we slept and spent more on tours and experiences. These are the things you will remember more than where you slept that night. Apply this to everything, like have a nice meal in Italy but don’t make every meal nice! Also, save for this trip extensively try not to get in debt for it like me! 😉

MAKING A HOME

Here is my living room, it is the heart of my home! I think I have furnished this entire room for under $600 dollars! A lot of people think have been in my apartment and think I have invested so much money into it, but the truth is I haven’t. My biggest purchase was my couch. I got it at a discount store called “The Dump”. It’s a store that sells high end retail furniture for super cheap! This couch retailed for $2,500 and I bought it for $388. My coffee table and end table (not pictured) were bought by my mom at a yard sale for $60 dollars. My proudest purchase in this room is for sure my TV table. I had seen it at World Market when if first moved in for about $500. But two weeks ago, it dropped! It went on sale for $225 and I had a 15% off coupon to World Market. All together with taxes it came out to $206 dollars! I ended up paying $6 because I was given a $200 dollar gift card when I signed my lease. I will link similar or the same things below!

If you are decorating and need some cute little accents go to the thrift store. You can find so many cute things for cheap. I even found those cute gold glasses in my mom’s storage, they were my grandmothers and they make great candle holders and cocktail glasses. Keep your mind open for those little accents, Anthro and Z Gallerie can be expensive! Another amazing tip for decorating apartments is buying plants! I paid $25 dollars for this tiny palm at Walmart.

THE TABLE

THE WALL

THE BAR

BB’S CORNER

I have slowly but surly began to fill my apartment. When I was abroad I spent my down time doing A LOT of pinning on my Pinterest Boards! When I was home sick, it helped me so much to envision my future home.

I have always been a huge fan of mid-century modern and that kinda my style through out my apartment. It was important to me to also let the style reflect myself as well (hints the mean girls referenced UFO poster and the bar, lol).  I found my table on the app OfferUp! It is soooo great if you are a college student or you are on a budget. I used the key word “IKEA ” in my search bar! I will link everything or similar items down below.

Cool side story: the photo on the right in the middle was given to us when we stayed in the Amsterdam Hilton. It is  the famous photo of John Lennon and his wife in that hotel. We actually stayed on the same floor! I was excited! 😛

  • Dog Toys: Petsmart or Walmart
  • Dog Basket: Ross, Similar HERE
  • Dog Bowls: Petsmart
  • Dog Mat: Actually a rug from Target
  • Frames: IKEA
  • UFO Photo: Society6
  • Half Fool Photo: Society6
  • Moon Photo: Society6
  • Bar Cart: atHOME (I bought here, but for some reason not on the website, so I linked similar)
  • Table: IKEA
  • Chairs: IKEA
  • Marble Vase: Braxton’s gift
  • Flowers: Braxton hand picked them 😛

I’m backkkk. I know I have literally been MIA on my blog forever but I will get to that next post. For now, I wanted to share some pictures from my weekend at Priest Lake. Braxton and I took this trip with his family for the up north winter wedding. It was so beautiful and I’m so happy we had the honor to share the love with them! The lake was (obviously) frozen over. Sadly, not frozen enough to walk on *sad face*.

This weekend also reminded me of how much fun card games and speak out is! Def pick them up for your next family game night!

Also, I link down a few fun games and my favorite {cute} snow gear!
